The
Type 2 $1 Gold was minted from 1854 to 1856. This is the second
of three types of Gold $1 minted. The design was changed from the
Liberty Head style to a female wearing a feather headdress
and is known as the Indian Princess or large sized type.
The weight is .0538 troy oz. with a fineness of .900. The Diameter
from 13mm in the Type 1 design to 15mm for the types 2 and 3, making
the coins larger in diameter and thinner.
